This scenery adds a new realistic terminal and hangar area to the airport at Rarotonga. This is a small airport with an adequate runway to handle large airliners. The scenery also includes some static aircraft in the liveries which service this airport. It has subdued night lighting, aircraft stairs and service vehicles, gas tanks, and tropical landscaping to make you feel like you are there.
1. Extract the file into your main FS2002 scenedb folder.
2. Start FS and go to the World tab, and then down to Scenery Library. Click on Add Area, find and open the scenedb folder, then find the Rarotonga folder and click on it. The name Rarotonga should now appear in the title window, so click OK. Rarotonga shold now appear at the top of your Scenery Library list, then click the OK tab at the bottom, and the scenery will begin to install. When complete, exit FS.
3. Find your main FS2002 folder and open it, then scroll down till you come to some notebook icons, and find the one labeled scenery and open it. Scroll all the way to the bottom, and find the Rarotonga section, then copy and paste the following lines immediately below the last line of the section. This will eliminate the default FS buildings at this location.
This area as in all the minor islands I have encountered in FS2002, has an aircraft bouncing effect on taxiways, turnouts, and tarmacs. I have tried everything possible to counter act this, without success.
This scenery has three desity settings so you can custom taylor it to your needs.
Normal: Gives you the entire airport without any static aircraft.
Dense: Gives you the airport with one static aircraft out by the hangar.
Very Dense: Gives you the airport with an additional static aircraft at the terminal.
This scenery will be greatly enhanced, as will all your water areas with the addition of Ed Truthan's oceanstex.zip, which is a truly remarkable water texture making it as real as it gets.
Once again, I have found no terrain mesh done for these South Pacific Islands, and would like to encourage anyone who is an artist in this area to do these beautiful islands.
